These were for the Continental army of the united states.
"The “USA” Pattern button. Adopted in early 1777, this button was widely used in all theaters of-of the war and many Continental units. There are many variations to this design.”

Fugawee's smaller matching button is # 179 and is here on this site.
We are a manufacturer of many things cast from Britannia, or some call it “Silver pewter.” There is a small amount of silver in it for strength. I like it because there are no harmful chemicals Britannia can be polished to a high polish close to a sterling silver appearance, or it can be brushed, patinaed, or highlighted with enamel. We use enamel paint or UV-activated paint. Acrylics are wonderful. It’s not possible to use the fired enamel process. The Britannia would melt.
Our metal comes from Bellmont metals, started in 1896 on Bellmont Ave Brooklyn, NY. The alloy we use (Britannia) is USDA approved for use in food proccing equipment.
I tell you upfront because I’m not selling you “Vintage, Antique buttons or bespoke items.” I can make as many of them as you want. I am selling modern reproductions or the best facsimile of ones that can’t be authenticated. Rogers Rangers 1755-1763 is an example. The buttons I hand make in the USA keep a high polish and are of different weights depending on their application. The metal we use is USDA approved for use in food proccing equipment. Traditional pewter has 90% tin and 10% other.

This button is exactly what I needed for my SAR Revolutionary war coat which Washington okayed for the Continental Army in 1779 after many years with no standard uniform, only the various uniforms state militia units wore. This uniform is sometimes worn by the Old Guard, the 3rd Infantry division in Washington DC. Cool looking memory.
